It starts with your target hourly rate and estimated hours, then adds overheads and a revision or risk buffer. It protects your target profit and accounts for payment fees before calculating the client quote, deposit, and balance.
What profit margin and deposit should I use?
There is no universal percentage. Use a margin that supports non-billable time and business risk. Many project-based freelancers start with a 30% to 50% booking deposit, then put the amount, due date, and balance rule in writing.
Are my figures private?
Yes. The calculator works in your browser, needs no account, and does not submit your rate, hours, costs, or quote figures to this website.
